Hypnosis And The Many Faces Of Weight Loss   By R.E. Darby

Hypnosis Weight Loss And Too Much Information

Over weight and obesity are a problem of epidemic proportions in the United States. So many people have been wrestling with this problem for so long, and there are so many real and not so real solutions going around, that it is all but impossible to figure out what to do and frustration is beginning to rule and leading to hopelessness, defeat and acceptance of a condition that is often life threatening.

It is actually mind boggling how many weight loss and appetite control programs are out there now. The industry is huge. Now, everyone who is familiar with my specialty, which is personal power, also knows that I am a realist as well as a dreamer. The dreamer in me seeks to believe that all of us can decide to develop our personal power to the extent that we can overcome all problems through the power of a well managed and disciplined mind guided by a well developed higher consciousness.

However, the realist in me also sees the necessity for obtaining outside help either because the condition is preventing us from pursuing the development of personal power until it is dealt with or we just want or need to deal with a problem while we are working on the greater goal of personal power. In any case, the first challenge is the incredible amount of so called information circulating on the subject.

The Search For The Easiest Weight Loss Solution

Of the many questionable benefits of our obsession for comfort is the evolution of the instant gratification mindset. Fast and easy or don't bother me. But when it comes to weight loss this strategy can actually be deadly. Think of the pharmaceutical solutions that have resulted in more serious damage than the condition they were supposedly meant to cure. Even some of the surgical solutions, aside from being expensive, are to say the least, extreme.

We are a society of convenience and neither government nor educational system is very anxious to champion the development of personal power, or courage and strength. In the meantime some are seeking to get rich through the sale of fad diets to those who simply don't want to accept the truth about obesity and their personal responsibility in the situation.

Enter Hypnotherapy

Even in the hypnosis arena, which seems to be the most effective alternative to personal power, there are those that work and those that are not all that affective. Given the average persons propensity for denial and avoidance, it is not surprising to realize that the best solutions are those that have to do with a form of self trickery. Yes, even with hypnosis, the direct approach is not as effective as when they use deceptive approaches.

So much money is being generated by so many different solutions that it makes me wonder, just where is the incentive to actually find a real solution? This of course is what personal power would do and effectively shut down an industry, but who really sees that happening? In the meantime, I believe that currently hypnosis holds the best possibility for real lasting success.
