Creative Visualization And Successful Achievement  By:  R.E. Darby

How We See Ourselves

Creative visualization is one of the most powerful tools we have available to us for successfully achieving any objective. It has the power to define our goal with the detail and intensity necessary to enlist the aid of our subconscious mind and thereby set into motion all the resources that will come together and result in success. But don't make the mistake of assuming that this tool is only used for spiritual and self realization purposes. It is a practical all purpose tool that can and will serve any objective you set yourself.

Our basic mindset. which determines our attitude, is important to any project, and how we see ourselves is important to achieving any success. Visualizing the successful outcome of some project without including the vision of the attributes of a successful personality such as positive thinking, determination, commitment, self confidence, patience and faith is like performing half a task and then wondering why things didn't work out. We need to bring the human attributes of success to the table and we do this through the use of visualization as well. We visualize ourselves as a person who succeeds at whatever he/she sets out to achieve and we see/visualize this in detail to the point where we can feel it, smell it, taste it and hear it.

How We See The Goal

The goal too must be visualized as completely as possible yet it must also be realistic. When we use our ability to visualize/imagine fantasies we are engaging in the recreational use of the power to visualize, but when we use this same power to achieve successful goals in the real world we call it creative visualization. It is in fact part of the processes of our personal creative power by which we are able to create reality through the power of our mind's ability to think thoughts and organize them into powerful configurations called ideas.

As it was with how we see ourselves in the equation, we must also see our goal with the same completeness and intensity. This is not only true for the actual end result but also for the planning and execution of the plan. We must see it all unfolding in the right order and the right time and in as much detail as possible. I try to make this as much fun as possible by turning it into a movie where I am the main character who is supremely confident in myself and is able to think through every detail before launching the project.

How We Let Go

No one is better at interfering with our success than we are. I can't tell you how many times I've over thought some project until it was not a failure, because it never got off the ground in the first place. Or the times that I micromanaged a project until I paralyzed it completely. Or how about second guessing as a result of the onslaught of doubts. Confidence in ourselves means having faith in our abilities. When we built our mindset of success in the beginning, if we did our job well, there should never be doubts concerning our abilities, we can have small doubts about small specific activities related to the inevitable variables of any endeavor but not about ourselves.

We demonstrate our confidence and faith by letting go when it is appropriate and offering guidance when that is appropriate. We need to not only demonstrate confidence in ourselves, but also those we are trusting to carry out tasks that we are unable to do, if that is necessary. Letting go is not always the easiest thing to do and requires a certain strength of character, which should have been included in our original vision of ourselves in relationship to the project.

Personal Investment

The personal investment involved is no small matter, and this, as with anything else requires an investment of the time and effort it takes to learn and develop the necessary creative visualization skills. For some this may be easier than for others depending on how well developed your imagination is to begin with, but regardless, this is a skill that is extremely valuable to have. Though it is but one of the many skills that comprise our creative power, it is one of the most important and powerful. Creative visualization along with meditation skills that help us develop our ability to concentrate deeply and therefore help us visualize more intensely are a one two combination that is unparalleled in our personal power toolbox.

There is a great free e-book that explores personal power here.
